Back to the dyno...

With the motor installed and broken in, Flash-Tune kids did a few runs

3rd Time's a Charm...

Long story short, with only a few weeks before the 2012 season starts, I dropped the rebuilt motor into the bike and had Chris(from FlashTune/MPS) do a successful dyno run...saweet!

Unfortunately the celebration was cut short, later that night while testing out raising the rev limiter the engine went KAPOW!
The next day I returned to MPS, and in two hours had the motor pulled, on the bench and started digging. As soon as I yanked the valve cover, the Cylinder#1 left exhaust valve bucket, shim, and keeper were completely disinegrated. After removing the head...fuck me...all the valves had floated and contacted with the pistons. Piston #1got the worst of it...this motor is toast!
Oh well, making mistakes is learnin, back to the drawing board...

2nd motor build...

After a few warm up laps, I noticed my motor was way down on power. Wide open on the straights and the bike was dragging ass to get going.  As soon as I got home I went and did a compression check...150 psi on cylinder #1(should be closer to 200)....screw me, I just built this motor!  Decided to play it safe and double check my handy work. In a few hours I had the motor pulled and cases split, and wouldn't you know it, a bent oil ring on cylinder #1 and some bad scoring in my brand new crank and rod bearings. Scoring was probably from foreign particles, like the type come from when you decide to build your motor right next to a drill press!!!

Ouch...

And the bent oil ring, no doubt from when I was learning to insert pistons into the bore!
